Paul Valent is a former doctor and psychiatrist whose own survival of the Holocaust in Hungary informed his work with trauma and disaster survivors. He is the cofounder and former president of the Australasian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and a former executive on the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
